Saturday morning cartoons

With the loss of Saturday morning cartoons I seem to find myself up and moving earlier and earlier as the years go on. Not that there is anything wrong with getting an early start on the day, I get a lot more done now then I did twenty years ago.

Those cartoons where a fantastic distraction and as I grew older, a great reason to stay planted to the coach accompanied by the ever present lingering fog from the night before.

Now that both of those are gone or at least greatly reduced, Saturday mornings have taken on new characters.  For some it's coffee in a big parking lot with several other like minded individuals or quick hop in the daily for a round of burritos for the house, maybe a brisk walk in the park.On with the day by eight forty five while the dew still hangs on the grass.

Out in the garage to begin the activities that require gasoline and lack anymore excitement then going back and forth in front of the house.

I begin by dusting off the car from other projects and clearing some room to get to the yard implements, anticipating the afternoon when the key will be turned and the monster will roar to life.

Maybe Saturday morning cartoons wasn't the best choice of words to start this with. As I pull my foot back from under the front edge of the bumper, it becomes clear that this Saturday may be turning into an after school mystery.

It appears that along with new duties and singing song birds, spring has brought the Black Pearl incontinence to coincide with the sixtyth birthday celebrations.

Looks like our Saturday morning coffee is going to be postponed a couple weeks
